🍓🍓🍓Strawberries top the Dirty Dozen!

I love strawberries, so do my children. We will DIY waffles home, top it up with ice cream and diced strawberries. However, strawberry top the list in the Dirty Dozen by EWG Shopper’s Guide to Pesticide in Produce. This is the list of produce with the most pesticide residues.
https://www.ewg.org/foodnews/dirty_dozen_list.php…

EWG’s analysis of tests by the U.S. Department of Agriculture found that nearly 70 percent of samples of 48 types of conventional produce were contaminated with residues of one or more pesticides. USDA researchers found a total of 178 different pesticides and pesticide breakdown products on the thousands of produce samples they analyzed. The pesticide residues remained on fruits and vegetables even after they were washed and, in some cases, peeled.

I definitely do not want my family and myself to consume these harmful pesticides when eating strawberries and other produces. For young children and elderly, low levels of pesticides can be harmful. We need to take steps to lower their exposure to pesticides. For my family, this comes in the form of Young Living Thieves Fruits and Veggie Soak.

Young Living Thieves Fruits and Veggies Soak is a naturally derived plant based formula that is non-toxic and gentle. It safely and effectively washes produces with the cleansing power of three exclusive essential oil blends – DiGize, Thieves & Purification. When combined with other naturally derived ingredients, our fruits and vegetables are easily cleaned without affecting their taste.

How to use:
Add 1 fl. oz (2 TB) to every gallon of water. Completely cover produce. Soak produce for 1-2 minutes. Rinse with water.

HIDE AND SEEK

20708263_10154572970282610_2445645513354727200_n

My 8 years old daughter and I play HIDE AND SEEK every month. I will HIDE the box of Ningxia Red sachets, while she will SEEK them out.

I used to leave the box of Ningxia Red in the kitchen cabinets, where everyone at home has easy access to them. Until I realized my Ningxia Red sachets are vanishing faster than I can say “If you can only take 1 supplement, make it Ningxia Red”. So my daughter and my 5 years old son love Ningxia Red, and I have educated them enough for them to know that it’s good for their health. They love Ningxia Red so much that they call it ‘Mommy’s Ribena’, and they help themselves to many many sachets everyday.

So, I have taken to HIDING my Ningxia Red. Every month when the boxes of Ningxia Red arrives, I will wait until my children fall asleep and I find new hiding places. The hiding places have to be weird places that the children won’t think of, and yet they have to be cool and out of direct sunlight, and easy to access enough for me to get the sachets twice a day.

To my horror, this morning my daughter announced to me proudly, “mommy, I found your Ningxia Red…. “. Tonight I need to find a new hiding place again. I pray she won’t take more than 3 sachets today, while I’m at work.

I always say.. “if you can only take 1 supplement, make it Ningxia Red!”. Ningxia Red has bountiful of health benefits, it supports our immunity system, highly antioxidant drink that keeps our body and skin young, balance blood pressure, supports eye health, improve sleep quality.. the list goes on and on. Do check out the graphic on the many benefits okie.

Proud to say, my 2 children hardly fall sick. *touch wood* My daughter has never taken a single day of MC this school year. My son took a few days of MC because he got the chicken pox. He was perfectly OK when he got chicken pox, can eat can play and very happy that he didn’t need to go school.

PM me if you like to try out Ningxia Red and get healthier and younger!

The day I almost fainted in the washroom

ditch the air freshener
I almost fainted in my office’s washroom just now. Why? Because the cleaner was spraying lots of air-freshener all over the washroom when I was inside. Small enclosed space and lots of air-freshener, not a good combination. I was trapped in that toxin-laden enclosed space for a good 10 minutes. I was doing my business halfway, and couldn’t leave fast enough. Now my throat has this weird uncomfortable feeling, and despite drinking a bottle of mineral water, I can’t get rid of the feeling.
WHY TOXIN LADEN?
Air-fresheners are used to create a pleasant smelling environment, and are readily available in all supermarkets. Are you aware that they contains lots of chemicals to neutralize offensive odors?
The basic ingredients in air fresheners are formaldehyde, petroleum distillates, 1,4 dichlorobenzene and aerosol propellants. Recently many of these chemicals have been investigated for their safety. Some common chemicals found in air fresheners have been found to be toxic to humans and may increase the incidence of many different health problems. Natural and healthy air fresheners are now being used as alternatives to conventional air fresheners in order to minimize health hazards and environmental pollution.
FORMALDEHYDE
Do check out my earlier post on the harmless effects of formaldehyde on our body.
PETROLEUM DISTILLATES
Petroleum distillates, also known as petrochemicals or hydrocarbons are extracted by distillation during the refining of crude oil. They are commonly used in heating agents, gasoline, and of course, solvents. Research shows that being exposed to petroleum distillates increases the risk of developing undifferentiated connective tissue disease. UCTD is an inflammatory autoimmune disease that can include symptoms from or lead to connective tissue diseases such as lupus, scieroderma, polymyositis, vasculitis, rheumatoid arthritis, Sjogren’s syndrome, or fibromyalgia. Petroleum distillates can also cause chemical pneumonia and interfere with the lungs’ functions. And of course, death is a possibility if inhaled or swallowed.
1,4 DICHLOROBENZENE
1,4 dichlorobenzene can affect us when breathed in and by passing through our skin, it should be handled as a carcinogen. Breathing 1,4 dichlorobenzene can irritate the nose and throat causing coughing and wheezing, while exposure to  1,4 dichlorobenzene can cause headaches, dizziness, swelling around the eyes, nausea and vomiting. Repeated exposure can damage the nervous system causing weakness, trembling and numbness in the arms and legs. It may also damage the liver, kidney and affect blood cells causing anemia.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am definitely not going to use these toxin-laden air-freshener in my household. Ruining our health for the sake of nicer smelling environment doesn’t make sense at all. And why do we need to use these toxin-laden air-freshener when there are nicer smelling and healthier alternatives available to us. I will use Young Living essential oils to freshen my air anytime, and at the same time supporting our overall well-being.
There are many simple ways that you use Young Living essential oils to freshen up your air and environment
– DIY Spray – In a 100ml bottle, fill it with 50% distilled water and 50% witch hazel, and add 10-20 drops of your favorite Young Living essential oil. Purification, Lemongrass, Orange and Lemon essential oils are some of my preferred choices. They smells nice, neutralize odors and are relatively inexpensive. The prices start from S$18 for a 15ml bottle (member price), and they can last you quite long.
– Drip a few drops of your favorite Young Living essential oils on a cotton ball, wooden scent ball, or even on your toilet paper roll to freshen up the space instantly.
– Diffuse your favorite Young Living essential oil using a aroma diffuser and enjoy hours and hours of fresh and lovely smelling air.
– DIY Reeds Diffuser with Young Living essential oils. A simple recipe to follow
1 small glass bottle
Reeds
1/3 Distilled Water
2 tablespoon of Rubbing alcohol
20 drops of your chosen essential oils
These are just some ideas to freshen your air with essential oils, there are many many more options!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’m still stuck in the office now, I shall do a steam tent with RC essential oil to cleanse out my airway and hopefully reduce whatever toxins that my body have come in contact with in that 10 minutes.

DIY cleaning ear… is a BIG NO NO

ear health
I grew up cleaning my ear with a cotton bud daily after my shower, and I can shower 3x daily somedays. Singapore is such a hot and humid country, and I want to be cool and nice smelling.
A few years back, when my mom started complaining about tinnitus and seeking medical attention. I was shocked to learn that we should NEVER put anything into our ears to clean our ears. If we really need to, it should be done by a doctor. Else we risk damaging our eardrums. The act of putting a cotton bud into the ear actually push earwax and whatever debris deeper into the ear, and may cause hearing loss, damaged ear drum or ear canal.
So, do we have to clean our ears?
The outer ear or pinna benefits from a good cleaning every now and then. This can be accomplished with a little soap, water and a washcloth while you shower.
In most cases, the ear canal does not need to be cleaned. During hair washing or showers, enough water enters the ear canal to loosen the wax that has accumulated. Additionally, the skin in your ear canal naturally grows in an outward, spiral pattern. As it sloughs off, ear wax goes with it. Most of the time the wax will loosen and fall out on its own while you are asleep
If you have heavy wax build-up, then a trip to the doctor may be needed.
————–
Because its has been a habit for me to clean my ear, now when I am trying to break this habit, I do experience ear itching. I have went to the doctor once requesting for him to clean my ears. My doctor said my ears are very clean, and the itch I am feeling is more of a psychological thing.
Alright, at least I know my ears are clean. But the itch feels so real and is bothering me. I have been applying Melrose on my outer ear to relieve the itch, and it helps. Melrose essential oil is fantastic for soothing skin and neutralizing odor. I’m imaging my ear to be very smelly and dirty now. Ok, psychological, but I want to do whatever that makes me feel better.
Helichrysum essential oil is another essential oil that I have been applying on my ears, because of its restorative properties and it supports healthy skin, liver and nervous system. I apply Helichrysum on my outer ear and behind the ears. I drip a drop of Helichysum on my index finger and apply inside the ear as far as the index finger can fit.
Ever since I stopped digging my ears and started this oily routine for my ears for the last 1-2 months, the ear itch has reduced (ok, I know psychological) and my ear discomfort has reduced significantly too.
Email me if you like to find out more about how to use the essential oils to maintain healthy ears.

BREATHE…. Again

19756832_10154471471427610_8653174469298509686_n

I was watching this Chinese Drama, Eternal Love, and was sobbing away. Then my little boy cried together with me. He thought I was upset with something, and was upset that his mommy is upset. So sweet right.

After I convinced him that mommy is not upset, but just crying over a show. He gave me a puzzled look, anyway he stopped crying. Later he whined and complained he can’t breathe, his nose is stuffed from his crying. Arrrgggh.. I want to continue watching my show.

The big sister saved the day with her Breathe Again roll-on. She roll on Breathe Again on the little boy’s chest and throat, then told the whiny brother to wait a while, you will have your nose back. Hahahaha

Indeed, the little boy stopped whining soon, and fell asleep. Why kids can sleep so easily?!

Breathe Again is a blend of essential oils that are used to support a healthy respiratory system. It contains 4 types of Eucalyptus essential oils, peppermint, copaiba, myrtle, laurus nobilis, blue cypress and rose hip fruit essential oils. Eucalyptus essential oils are studied for its potential to support healthy lungs functions. Breathe Again comes in a roll-on bottle and is pre-diluted with coconut oil, making it convenient for us to apply it on the go.

☠ Formaldehyde – BAD BAD TOXINS ☠

18118456_10154269305537610_7302476544624393919_n

Formaldehyde is a cancer-causing chemical. However, exposure to formaldehyde vapors can also produce a variety of short-term symptoms such as headaches, itchy and/or burning eyes and nose, asthma, respiratory difficulties, depression, insomnia, mental confusion, epistaxis (nose bleed), rashes, joint pains, disorientation, fatigue, laryngitis/hoarseness, nausea and vomiting.

Sound horrible isn’t it?

I just moved into my new house a few days back. Before we moved in, I was already here for 2 days cleaning up the place.

In areas of the house where there are more new cabinets, we felt a eye stinging effect and caused us all to become upset people, tearing away.

The worst area is in my walk in wardrobe, there is alot of carpentry work in a small enclosed area. OK, I spent a lot of time in that space, packing my clothes and looking into the mirror.

I have developed some discomfort with my eyes and throat. I have sensitive eyes and respiratory system. While the husband has the burning eyes effect.

That got us researching and found out that new manufactured wood furniture emits the highest amount of Formaldehyde, and lots of people associate Formaldehyde as the new furniture smell. 😱 No wonder we felt so awful.

Also note that Formaldehyde exists in alot of products we used daily
Air refresheners
Synethic essential oils
Cleaning products containing terpenes
Paper towels 😭
Cigarettes
Vehicle exhaust
Clothes treated with Formaldehyde
Body-care and skincare with Formaldehyde-donor preservatives
Coventional nail polish and nail polish remover
Toothpaste and dental products

And the list goes on…

I checked in the EO app that Purification essential oil blend helps to remove Formaldehyde. We have been diligently diffusing Purification essential oil throughout the house. I have diffuser running in each space, and wiped all my cabinet with thieves household cleaner.

On top of that, keeping the house well ventilated will help to get rid of the Formaldehyde in the house.

From this episode, I also realized the importance checking the ingredients of all the products we use for our family members and in the house.

Pm me if you like to find out how to buy Young Living products and how to live toxins-free.

Sick on a Friday

17498499_10154183536292610_7135579601478097433_n

I think Friday night is the worse day to fall sick! I can’t enjoy the weekend and I can’t get a day off work!

🤦‍♀️Bad luck. That’s me. My head is heavy. My nose is blocked. My throat hurts when I swallow saliva.

My little girl took pity on me and offered to do a Raindrop Technique session on my soles. How sweet right. ❤️❤️

The hot oils helped clear my nose. Now I have got mucus running down. TMI.

The 9 oils in the Raindrop Technique Set help to support immunity system, support respiratory system, relax muscles, relieve tension, support healthy blood circulation, balances body energies and help with restful sleep.

Good night world. I hope I will wake up bright eye and bushy tailed tomorrow morning.

Things that kids say..

17458321_10154184597412610_1433770481463420628_n

On Thursday, my almost 5 years old son woke up unwell. So he has to stay at home to rest. I stayed home in the morning to do a Raindrop Technique session on him and oiled him every 20 minutes with
Valor II, Thieves, Exodus II, Lemongrass and Peppermint on the soles.
Lavender all on the the area that will trap heat.
Peppermint on tummy and back.

By the time I had to leave for work, he transformed from a whiny boy who couldn’t even get out of bed, to a cheeky boy who must play with toys while I oiled him.

So Friday morning, he woke up all bright eyed and alert. And he has to go back to school.

This ungrateful little boy said, “next time you dun oil me, I want to be unwell and stay at home!”
